New Delhi India Gate

(2 Kms. / 8 minutes) India Gate is a war memorial arch, built in honour of 90,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Below it burns a perpetual flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti, the eternal flame in tribute to all martyred soldiers in India. (1 Km. / 5 minutes) Built in the 16th century, it is the first Mugal Garden Tomb. It is the tomb of the second emperor of the Mugal dynasty. An excellent example of early Mugal Architecture which reached maturity in the Taj Mahal at Agra.

Jama Masjid

(8 Kms. / 30 minutes) Jama Masjid means Friday mosque. It was built in 1656. Designed by Ustad Khlil & constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan, it is the largest & the most splendid mosque in India. Placed on a height the mosque is made of glowing red sandstone inlaid with marble & brass & has three majestic black & white marble domes.

Purana Qila

(2 Kms. / 10 minutes) Meaning Old Fort. It is the sight of the mythical Indraprastha the capital of the Pandavas in the Mahabharta Epic. It is next door to the Delhi Zoo.

Rashtrapati Bhawan

(3 Kms. / 10 minutes) Designed by Lutyens, where the Viceroy once lived & now the official residence of the President of India, it is an imposing structure with 340 rooms, constructed high up on Raisina hill.

Qutab Minar

(15 Kms. / 30 – 45 minutes) IIs a five storey 72.5 metre high minaret made of red sandstone, was began by Qutab-ud-din-Aibak to symbolise justice, sovereignty & Islam. Three storeys after the first storey were built by his Son-in-law Iltutuish & last two by Feroz Shah Tuglaq.

Red Fort

(9 Kms. / 30 minutes) This was the seat of the Mughal Empire. It is a huge fort housing within its precincts imposing palaces and impressive public buildings, such as Diwan -i-Am (hall for public audience), Diwan-i-Khas (hall for private audience); Rang Mahal (a water -cooled apartment for royal ladies); Sheesh Mahal (retiring apartments); Moti Masjid or Pearl Mosque (built of white marble). A sound-and-light show is conducted during the evenings (in Hindi and in English).

Bahai Temple

(10 Kms. / 35 – 40 minutes) Completed in 1986, the Bahai temple is set amidst pools and gardens and followers of any faith are free to visit the temple and pray or meditate silently according to their own religion. The structure is in lotus shape so it often called the lotus temple. The view of the temple is spectacular just before dusk when the temple is flood lit.
